applications in VB6 under Windows 98 and NT, using COM, MS
Access, ActiveX and Visual Interdev. I created classes for
communication of the program with credit card reading device
and with remote VISA host via modem. These classes
implemented the VISAÔ transaction protocols involved in VISA
Travel Money card processing. Another project involved
relational database design and implementation, and
developing VB applications accessing it via DAO and RDO.
This software is being deployed on about 200 Citibank
locations overseas. |

Contract consulting through CTG. Developed (full life-cycle
including GUI design, coding, debugging, implementation in
production with pilot team) interactive business application
in MS Visual Basic 3 and MS Access 2 (prototyping) working
with the data at remote DB2 accessed via direct ODBC calls
(IBM CAE/DOS driver with DDCS/6000). Compared to the
"standard" VB JET approach, direct ODBC better met the
client's requirements for the speed of database
transactions. Third-party products utilized MicroHelp
VBTools (custom controls), Novell API (to extract network ID
in order to avoid second logon ID for DB2), AccuMail
(verification of postal addresses and zip code provision).
Resolved the problem of hanging DB2 threads produced by
Windows client application. Data model developed and
normalized for the project. |

Accomplished the project of Russian localization of IBM
Office Vision (written in BAL) for IBM Corporation. On
client’s site, performed database administering, application
programming, data modeling, GUI design (Visual Basic,
Access, REXX/ISPF, BAL, and DB2). Developed and implemented
project to replace existing ADABAS/NATURAL database at the
Regional Motor Vehicle Department with the client-server
environment (Visual Basic –DB2/VM). As active team leader,
provided DB2 physical and logical design, installation,
benchmarking, tuning (Omegamon/DB2, Platinum Database
Analyzer, BAL), administering, and application programming. |
